A well-written review from Lake Elsinore, California

"Kristina Duvall has to be the best, most conscientous, and courteous service writer at all of the Mazda dealerships I have done business with over the years. That is saying a lot since I have owned 12 different Mazdas since I have fell in love with the brand in 1990. The other day I dropped off my very low miles/mint 1988 RX-7 Convertible (I have owned 2 other RX-7s), for a minor service. As always I was greated with a smile where Kristina listened to my concerns, and helped me solve my problem in a quick and expedited manner. A key thing to note is: If there is ANY change to my service issue, Kristina calls me right away explaining the issue, the cost, and is always willing to go the extra mile in order to make my service experience a pleasent one at John Hine Temecula Mazda. This is very comforting as I never show up at the service department with a bill that surprises me, and my car is always out waiting for me upon my arrival at the dealership. As a busy professional who works in education, and with two small kids at home, it is nice to know I can count on John Hine Mazda to get the job done right, at an affordable cost, and most importantly in a timely manner. Although this is truly a team effort with all of those at John Hine Temecula Mazda to deliver my car serviced time, there is no doubt in my mind that Kristina is the driving force behind that effort. For that I truly must thank Kristina for her undying commitment to my Mazdas which to me are my "zoom zoom" babies."  - Sincerely, J. Parks--Lake Elsinore, California

Big SHOUT OUT to JR!

"JR was very helpful. We came in thinking we were going to have to buy my previously leased 2009 Mazda 3 touring, but JR made us a deal so I was able to lease the car that I really wanted. JR was very helpful and very nice. John Hine Temecula Mazda has never let me down. I've been a customer here for over 3 yearsnow and will recommend anyone to this dealer. THANK YOU so much for my new car. I LOVE IT!" - C. Bibby

9 ways to quickly improve your credit!

Are you having trouble getting the car if your dreams beacuse your credit is holding you back? Here are 9 easy ways to quickly improve your credit score.

1. Come in to John Hine. Visit http://www.temeculamazda.com/ or come in and talk to one of our representatives, who will help you get the car you want or help you build your credit.

Credit1

2. Get a credit card if you don't have one. Don't fall for the myth that you have to carry a balance to have good scores. You don't, and you shouldn't. But having and using a credit card or two can really build your scores.

3. Pay down your credit cards. Paying off your installment loans (mortgage, auto, student, etc.) can help your scores but typically not as dramatically as paying down -- or paying off -- revolving accounts such as credit cards. Lenders like to see a big gap between the amount of credit you're using and your available credit limits. Getting your balances below 30% of the credit limit on each card can really help; getting balances below 10% is even better. Though most debt gurus recommend paying off the highest-rate card first, a better strategy here is to pay down the cards that are closest to their limits.

4. Use your cards lightly. Racking up big balances can hurt your scores, regardless of whether you pay your bills in full each month. What's typically reported to the credit bureaus, and thus calculated into your scores, are the balances reported on your last statements.

You often can increase your scores by limiting your charges to 30% or less of a card's limit; 10% is even better. If you're having trouble keeping track, you can set up email or text alerts with your credit card companies to let you know when you're approaching a limit you've set. If you regularly use more than half your limit on a card, consider using other cards to ease the load or try making a payment before the statement closing date to reduce the balance that's reported to the bureaus. Just be sure to make a second payment between the closing date and the due date, so you don't get reported as late.

Credit2

5. Check your limits. Your scores might be artificially depressed if your lender is showing a lower limit than you actually have. Most credit card issuers will quickly update this information if you ask. You could go on a wild spending spree to raise the high balance reported to the credit bureaus, but a more sober solution would simply be to pay your balance down or off before your statement period closes.

6. Dust off an old card. The older your credit history, the better. But if you stop using your oldest cards, the issuers may decide to close the accounts or stop updating them to the credit bureaus. The accounts may still appear, but they won't be given as much weight in the credit-scoring formula as your active accounts, said Craig Watts, an executive at Fair Isaac, the company that created the FICO score.

So you might want to charge a recurring bill to one of those little-used accounts or take them out for dinner and a movie occasionally -- always, of course, paying off the balance in full.

Credit3

7. Get some good will. If you've been a good customer, a lender might agree to simply erase that one late payment from your credit history. You usually have to make the request in writing, and your chances for a "goodwill adjustment" improve the better your record with the company (and the better your credit in general). But it can't hurt to ask.

A longer-term solution for more-troubled accounts is to ask that they be "re-aged." If the account is still open, the lender might erase previous delinquencies if you make a series of 12 or so on-time payments.

8. Dispute old negatives. Say that fight with your phone company over an unfair bill a few years ago resulted in a collections account. You can continue protesting that the charge was unjust, or you can try disputing the account with the credit bureaus as "not mine." The older and smaller a collection account, the more likely the collection agency won't bother to verify it when the credit bureau investigates your dispute.

Some consumers also have had luck disputing old items with a lender that has merged with another company, which can leave lender records a real mess.

9. Blitz significant errors! Your credit scores are calculated based on the information in your credit reports, so certain errors there can really cost you. But not everything that's reported in your files matters to your scores.

Here's the stuff that's usually worth the effort of correcting with the bureaus:

· Late payments, charge-offs, collections or other negative items that aren't yours.

· Credit limits reported as lower than they actually are.

· Accounts listed as "settled," "paid derogatory," "paid charge-off" or anything other than "current" or "paid as agreed" if you paid on time and in full.

· Accounts that are still listed as unpaid that were included in a bankruptcy.

· Negative items older than seven years (10 in the case of bankruptcy) that should have automatically fallen off your reports.

You actually have to be a bit careful with this last one, because sometimes scores actually go down when bad items fall off your reports. It's a quirk in the FICO credit-scoring software, and the potential effect of eliminating old negative items is difficult to predict.

Your credit score is one of the most important things you can protect and grow. Having a good credit score will save you a ton of money and secure a good future for you and your family.

The Miata is still gets the most bang for your buck

The Mazda Miata has been the most efficient roadster ever driven and we have one on special for a ridiculously low price. Click HERE to schedule a test drive or to see all of our inventory, including the new Mazda's with Skyactiv Technology which get 40+ MPG. http://bit.ly/GXJzXQ

Miata

What's New for 1999

Mazda cautiously redesigns the MX-5 Miata, improving the car in every way without bumping up the price or diluting the car's personality.

Review

Mazda's MX-5 Miata is still the best roadster on the market today. Sure, Germany has unleashed the BMW Z3, the Mercedes SLK and the Porsche Boxster, but none of them can match the Mazda for sheer bang for the buck.

The MX-5 Miata is about simplicity in design and operation. It's about having fun behind the wheel. It's about feeling free and young on warm summer nights. Not a serious car, the MX-5 Miata, but that is this Mazda's charm.

Knuckleheads driven by large quantities of testosterone will dismiss the Miata as a woman's car. They don't know what they are talking about. Purists will dismiss the Miata in favor of the German convertibles, citing bloodline and heritage as worthy attributes that the Mazda does not possess. These are people who haven't driven any of the four, in most cases. We've driven the current crop of two-seat roadsters, and while some members of our staff refuse to openly admit that the Miata is the better car, it is an unspoken understanding that Mazda builds the superior roadster for the dollar.

Redesigned from the ground up, the 1999 MX-5 Miata has been improved upon in every way. The car is faster and more rigid, and sports updated styling that strays just far enough from the original to be fresh but not so far as to dilute the traditional Miata profile. In some ways, the new car is better-looking than the first-generation model, thanks to its wider tail and more sculpted bodywork. In other ways, well, let's just say those new exposed headlights remind us a bit too much of a Mercury Sable.

Trunk room is up substantially, and a windblocker is available to cut down on the number of bad hair days Miata drivers may suffer. The familiar 1.8-liter twin-cam engine makes more power and torque than last year, thanks to a new cylinder head that benefits from improved flow as well as a higher compression ratio. (California residents: your Miatas make slightly less power and torque than in the other 49 states.) Manual transmissions shift more smoothly and automatics are recalibrated to improve performance.

A stiffer, stronger body and chassis coupled with revised steering and suspension settings make the new Miata more responsive, while a wider track provides better stability in corners. The cowl shake of the old Miata is quelled substantially thanks to structural improvements. Four-wheel disc brakes are standard, and the fronts are ventilated. The passenger-side airbag can be switched off, so pre-teen kids can enjoy top-down thrills in the new car.

The 1999 version has a glass rear window with a standard defogger. A CD player comes installed in every Miata, and audiophiles who opt for the right package can crank tunes on a 200-watt Bose audio system. The revised interior is very nicely done, with well-integrated stereo and climate systems, the latter of which employs rotary dials to control settings. A sharp three-spoke steering wheel can be replaced by a leather-wrapped Nardi version. There is one Miata model available, but it can be dressed up with any of four different packages: a Touring package, a Popular Equipment package, a Leather package or the race-ready Sports package.

There's also a limited-edition 10th Anniversary MX-5 Miata that features a six-speed transmission, Sapphire Blue Mica exterior color, blue softtop with blue boot and blue interior trim. Chrome rings surround the speedometer and tachometer and a carbon fiber-like material covers the center console. A gift set (including his-and-hers Seiko watches, as well as a 1/43 scale 10Th Anniversary model) is also part of the package. Only 3,000 of these special Miatas will be produced, so get your order in now.

The MX-5 Miata is a car that auto enthusiasts should drive at least once in their lifetime. Drop by your local Mazda dealer on a warm sunny day, and see why Edmund's enthusiastically recommends the Miata.

The CX-9 Road Test Review

"This Mazda should be required driving for those who say that full-size SUVs are, by definition, a snooze to pilot - it whips through corners and hustles down straightaways like a vehicle half its size."

Glad we could give you a great experience!

Reputable Dealer! - I recently took my car to another Mazda dealer for a simple oil change (Ontario, CA)...but who's mentioning names? After they finished with my car, I began to drive home. I noticed that the sticker on the windshield recommended another oil change after only 3000 miles! Now, my owner's manual says that I only need to change the oil after 5000 miles, so my thought was that these guys were trying to rip me off by recommending that I have my oil changed more often than necessary! What a scam! So anyway, I receive 3 follow up emails AND 3 follow up voice mail messages (from them) asking me to give them an EXCELLENT review when I receive the survey from Mazda. I politely explained to the girl that I was disappointed that they didn't know the interval between oil changes which were recommended by the owner's manual. Her reply: Well, the service department wrote down 3000 miles because we think that you would want to take especially good care of your vehicle. The 3000 mile interval will help your car last longer! So, basically I caught them in a lie, and they won't admit it! My message: I have developed a TRUST with John Hine Mazda. They have shown me that they will only recommend services which I truly need. I had an experience here where they only recommended replacing 2 brakes on my car, when it would have been so easy to tell me that I needed all 4! Thank You guys! I plan on purchasing another vehicle soon, and will put John Hine Mazda HIGH on my list of reputable dealers I would like to continue to do business with!

Thanks for the kind words.

Mazda 3 and Mazda 2 co-owner. I have purchased two vehicles at John Hine Temecula Mazda within the past year. We have had them serviced at John Hine at our required 5000 mile intervals and will say that John Hine has made it easy. I call and have been greeted in a friendly way and they have gone out of their way to make me feel welcome. They ensure the work is scheduled on my timeline when its best available for me. The service is quick and completed when they say it will be done and always left me with a clean car when I drive away. I plan to continue to my service at John Hine. Very good business and people.

Thanks William!

"We did a lot of research online and in person before buying a new car from John Hine Temecula Mazda. Hine gave us the best price, which was nice because that allowed us to buy the car locally. The car only has 1000 miles on it so we have had no service needs yet, but I am confident after reading these other reviews that we will be well taken care of by the Service Department. The car is a blast to drive, and the milage seems to actually be in the EPA estimated range, which is a nice surprise." - William

Everybody from the Service Manager to the new employee are friendly, helpful, and always try to save you money. They don't push services on you that do not have to get done. I always get my cars service here and I will always get my cars serviced here. Thank you so much for being amazing! Sales on the other hand needs to learn from what the service department is doing.
