Mazda3 successor due in dealers this fall!
Following exciting new models like the 2013 CX-5 and 2014 Mazda6, Mazda is getting ready to introduce the next generation of its high-volume compact, the Mazda3. After talking to several of Mazda's dealers, Automotive News
is reporting that the automaker is planning to introduce its new
compact this fall, which is earlier than what was originally reported.
Aside from what we've seen in recent spy shots and what appeared to be a full-scale design mockup back in October, there is little information about the third-generation 3, but we can see that the car will get plenty of cues from Mazda's stylish Kodo design language, and we expect even more technologies from the company's SkyActiv efficiency program to come to bear. AN says that Mazda is hoping to top 300,000 sales this year in the US, and the sooner Mazda can replace the current aging 3, the better chances it has at reaching that goal.

Visit Mazda Museum in Hiroshima Online
Mazda Motor Corporation recently introduced a new service to its Mazda Museum in Hiroshima, Japan and is now offering a virtual tour of the main exhibition areas via Google Maps Street View*. This is a new and unconventional way for visitors to experience the Mazda spirit as well as its technological breakthroughs and heritage.
The easiest way to access the virtual Mazda Museum is by going to Mazda’s global website at www.mazda.com/mazdaspirit/museum/. At the Museum Guide, visitors can tour five areas of the museum – the Entrance Hall, the History and Future areas as well as the Technology and Rotary Engine exhibits – by clicking on the appropriate Google Street View link. They are taken into the museum itself for a near-reality experience with the possibility to turn in any direction and even come close enough to a few of the text-displays to read them.
The History exhibit lets visitors explore some of Mazda’s most legendary cars like the amazing Mazda Cosmo Sport (110S) from the 1960s, RX-7s from the 1970s and 80s, and the original MX-5 roadster that went on to become one of the most popular two-seat sports car in history. At the Technology exhibit, Mazda displays its new technological approach “SKYACTIV” which is currently under the hood of Mazda’s new generation of award-winning SKYACTIV Technology vehicles, Mazda6 and Mazda CX-5. (Direct Link: http://goo.gl/maps/oYrbd)
“A visit to the Mazda Museum is a must for anyone who loves cars,” said Wojciech Halarewicz, Vice President Communications, Mazda Motor Europe. “For people interested in Mazda, our new Street View experience makes a visit possible without travelling to our headquarters in Japan. And once inside, they will get to know the Mazda spirit in a very intimate and real way.”
The Mazda Museum is located near company global headquarters in Hiroshima and first opened in May 1994. After a renovation project in 2005 which improved museum space, the museum has offered six different exhibition areas and a gift shop with Mazda memorabilia. The Mazda Museum is open only on week days, and offers guided group tours in Japanese and individual guided tours in Japanese and English. Reservations are required and can be made up to one year in advance via email at mazdamuseum@mail.mazda.co.jp or by telephone at +81 (0) 82-252-5050. Admission is free.

All-New 2014 Mazda6 Earns IIHS Top Safety Pick!
“Receiving a ‘Top Safety Pick+’ ranking from IIHS demonstrates Mazda’s continued dedication to creating products that offer the highest levels of occupant crash protection combined with being fun to drive,”
- said Mazda President and CEO Jim O’Sullivan.
IIHS introduced the small overlap test in 2012 to further improve occupant protection in frontal crashes. The small overlap test replicates what happens when the front corner of a car collides with another vehicle or an object like a tree or utility pole. In the test, 25 percent of a car’s front end on the driver side strikes a 5-foot-tall rigid barrier at 40 mph.
The 2014 Mazda6 is equipped with Mazda’s all-new suite of SKYACTIV®[1] technologies – engine, transmission, body and chassis – all working together to deliver outstanding driving performance and fuel efficiency. The SKYACTIV-Body and SKYACTIV-Chassis ensure that the vehicle structure is not only reinforced and quiet but also rigid and able to absorb impact. The SKYACTIV-Body is comprised of 58 percent high-tensile steel, creating a lighter, stronger body with superior handling while the SKYACTIV-Chassis weighs less than current Mazda platforms and includes a front strut suspension and a multi-link rear format along with an assortment of design changes.
Standard safety features for all 2014 Mazda6 models include six airbags (front, side and full side-curtain), whiplash-reducing front headrests, power-assisted ventilated front and solid rear disc brakes, anti-lock brakes (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist, daytime running lights, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), a Traction Control System (TCS), hill launch assist, a fold-away brake pedal assembly, a trunk entrapment release system, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), three-point safety belts for all seating positions, front seatbelt pretensioners with force limiters as well as Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH).
2014 Mazda6 Touring models feature a Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) system and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) as standard equipment with the Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) system available as an option. Grand Touring models feature BSM and SCBS systems as standard equipment as well as RCTA and an Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS). Forward Obstruction Warning (FOW), Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) and High Beam Control (HBC) also are available as part of an optional package.
Priced competitively, the 2014 Mazda6 starts at $20,880[2] MSRP, offering an attractive, more affordable starting point for consumers than the best-selling vehicles in the segment. Equipped with a SKYACTIV-G 2.5-liter gasoline engine and SKYACTIV-MT six-speed manual, entry-level Sport models offer high-level features starting with the largest standard wheels amongst its competitors with 17-inch aluminum alloys, power side view mirrors, automatic headlight shutoff as well as exterior body-color cues in the shark-fin antenna, door handles, outside mirrors and front and rear bumpers. The 2014 Mazda6 also gets best-in-class highway fuel economy of 38 MPG.
Additionally, the 2014 Mazda CX-5 and 2013 Mazda3 have earned “Top Safety Pick” designations from IIHS but were tested before implementation of the new small overlap test.

The award-winning Mazda CX-5 gets even better
In the
spirit of non-stop improvement, Mazda is about to make its outstanding
CX-5 a little bit more attractive with a series of drivability, design
and functionality enhancements.
Never resting on its laurels, Mazda is adding a kickdown switch to its award-winning compact SUVs with SKYACTIV-Drive automatic transmissions. Using a kickdown detent, it helps drivers prevent unwanted downshifts or initiate faster ones when more torque is desired. The CX-5’s engines, meanwhile, are now even more free-revving than ever thanks to an enhanced power train control module. The tachometers have been updated accordingly with higher redlines*.
Advancements to the CX-5 interior were also undertaken with a focus on letting the driver concentrate on operating the vehicle. The enhanced Bluetooth functionality** available for the audio system includes a voice command feature for music management as well as display and readout capability for email and SMS received via a Bluetooth-connected smartphone. The stylish new silver accent for the audio panel button** likewise improves usability by making it easier to locate. Robust vinyl door armrests, finally, have been added on models with fabric upholstery to improve durability.
Soul Red, now being introduced on the all-new Mazda6 as perhaps the world’s most emotionally appealing red, will soon be available for the company’s CX-5, too. It was specially developed using a unique process. By combining two different base coats, Mazda has come up with a deep, intensive red that seems to radiate from within when lit up, in contrast to its blackish appearance where shaded. Soul Red thus emphasises the compact SUV’s stunning lines. It will join three other new body colours for the Mazda CX-5: Stormy Blue, Meteor Grey and Jet Black.
Launched in 2012 as the company’s all-new compact SUV, the Mazda CX-5 is the first model to feature the complete range of Mazda’s new ultra-efficient lightweight SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY along with the stunning “KODO – Soul of Motion” design. The winning combination of class-beating fuel economy, fun-to-drive Mazda performance and safety along with one of the most comfortable and flexible interiors in its segment have made the CX-5 incredibly popular with consumers and media across the world. Sales thus far have smashed expectations.
