Mazdanews

Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today confirmed the announcement of several North American vehicle debuts at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show.  The all-new 2014 Mazda6 mid-size sedan, updated 2014 CX-5 compact SUV and face-lifted 2013 CX-9 mid-size SUV will make their first continental appearances.  All vehicles are scheduled to be on sale this winter.  A global debut from Mazda Motorsports as well as official timing and vehicle application for the U.S.-destined SKYACTIV-D 2.2-liter clean diesel engine also will share the stage.

"It's definitely an exciting time for the Zoom-Zoom brand," said Jim O'Sullivan, president and CEO, MNAO.  "The long-awaited, redesigned 2014 Mazda6 will naturally receive much interest but let's not take away from our strong SUV lineup in the CX-5 and CX-9, which are segment leaders in their own right.  Motorsports, an innate part of Mazda's soul, will have important news to share and last but most certainly not least SKYACTIV-D will be here.  I have no doubt that consumers will look at Mazda's upcoming lineup with wide eyes, stirred hearts and driving inspiration."

Taking nearly identical design cues from the TAKERI Concept, the 2014 Mazda6 follows in the all-new footsteps and clean-sheet-of-paper approach of CX-5 to become the second production vehicle to feature the full breadth of the KODO "Soul of Motion" design language and also fully incorporate SKYACTIV®[1] TECHNOLOGY.  Mazda6 will feature a new SKYACTIV-G 2.5-liter gasoline engine as well as new-to-market technologies in the Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) system, an automated safety feature designed to mitigate front-end collisions at low speeds, and i-ELOOP, a Mazda-developed capacitor-based brake energy regeneration system for improved fuel economy.

The 2014 CX-5 also will receive the SCBS system, which will be available as part of an upgraded Technology Package for Touring and Grand Touring models.  At this time, CX-5 will not be equipped with i-ELOOP.

Both the 2014 CX-5 and 2014 Mazda6 will go on sale in January 2013.

Available at Mazda dealerships now, the 2013 CX-9 receives a mid-cycle facelift, immediately evident in its familial KODO design enhancements to the front and rear fascia.  The three-row, seven-passenger SUV stalwart also becomes even more tech savvy with Mazda's next-generation audio and infotainment system that includes a 5.8-inch color multi-information touch screen display, updated Bluetooth® audio and phone connectivity, a TomTom technology-based in-dash navigation system, HD Radio™ Technology, Pandora® and Short Message Service (SMS) audio receipt and delivery.

Mazda Motorsports will unveil an all-new competition race car which will make its motorsports debut in January at the 2013 Rolex 24 at Daytona, the premier motorsports endurance race in the United States.  The vehicle will be equipped with a turbocharged SKYACTIV-D 2.2L, making it the first diesel-powered competitor in the 51-year history of the 24-hour race.  Upon build-completion, the diesel racing engine remained 63 percent OEM stock.  Mazda will be seeking its 24th motorsports class win.

More information on Mazda's Los Angeles Auto Show vehicle debuts as well as updates on its global business plans will be announced during a press conference on Thursday, November 29.  The presentation will begin at 9:30 AM PST and will be held at the Mazda display booth located in the Los Angeles Convention Center's South Hall.

Russell, thanks for sharing your experience with us!

"I wanted to share a few things with you before I forgot.  As always, you were friendly and attentive to me even though you were busy with a few customers on my last oil change appointment. I always feel welcome in the service department and among friends when I bring my car in; I enjoy the experience.  I also really like how Nick Benedict shares my enthusiasm for my Mazdaspeed6; it's such a fun and rare car.  I like how he treats my car like his own and I know he services it with care.

Your team has been servicing my cars, first my 04 Mazda 6 and now my 06 Speed6 for about 4 years now.  I am a big Mazda fan, and it was your service department and my experience with John Hine Mazda Temecula that convinced me to buy a brand new 2013 Mazda CX-5 from Gio (please thank him again for me).  I feel at home at John Hine Temecula and enjoy my service visits there.  Now, since I bought the CX-5 from you guys, I have twice as many reasons to come in for service appointments!

I love Mazdas and have become a huge fan, and your service department and John Hine Temecula make the experience that much better.  Please let Bill Brumbaugh know that I appreciate your hard work and am happy to have such a great Mazda dealer just miles from my house."- Russell P

Here's a sneak preview to the 2013 Mazda CX-9!

Cx9
On Sunday in the Touchdown City area at CenturyLink Field Event Center, Mazda brought in a 2013 CX-9 fresh off the transcontinental delivery boat for a local media preview. Tetsu Nakazawa, from the Product Strategy and Development division of Mazda North American Operations, gave us an overview of what's new about the company's three-row, seven-passenger crossover utility vehicle.

For 2013, CX-9's model lineup is unchanged. It's available in Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring versions, and all three are offered with front-wheel or all-wheel drive.

Exterior design changes aren't significant enough to qualify as a momentous makeover, but you'll notice a whole new look for the nose and tail. Up front, the grille, fascia, headlamps, bumper and fog lamps are redesigned to reflect the “KODO Soul of Motion” design language Mazda adopted in 2010. At the rear, taillamps and bumper are changed, and the tailpipe is now round. For the wheels, the 20-inchers have been given a premium plating.

On the inside, white illumination replaces red on the gauges, perforation has been added to leather seats, the automatic transmission shift knob is updated, and there's Bluetooth audio, 5.8-inch LCD multi-information display, USB audio input and HD radio.

Touring and Grand Touring versions receive rear backup sensors, a rearview camera and a blind spot monitoring system. In addition to that, the Grand Touring now has bi-xenon headlamps (replacing the previous year's xenon lamps), memory for the door mirrors, and a door mirror tilt-in-reverse feature that aims the mirrors at the ground alongside the vehicle when the driver is backing up. Tilt-in-reverse is driver-selectable, so if you'd rather keep the mirrors in their normal position while backing up, you can.

The CX-9's standard powertrain, a 3.7-liter V6 paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, is carried over from the previous model year. It generates 273 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque, and has an EPA fuel economy rating of 16 mpg city and 22 mpg highway.

Read this article on what Mazda is doing to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today announced a $100,000 contribution to the American Red Cross to support relief efforts for victims of Hurricane Sandy. Additionally, The Mazda Foundation (USA), Inc., Board of Trustees approved grants to the Flemington Area Food Pantry and The Food Bank Network of Somerset County for $5,000 each. These two area food banks serve the communities immediately surrounding Mazda's Northeast Region Office, an area devastated by Hurricane Sandy.

"Hurricane Sandy has had a devastating impact on many people in the Northeast, including our own employees, dealers and customers, so we're pleased to work with the American Red Cross and local food banks to help those who have been affected by the disaster," said Jim O'Sullivan, president and CEO, MNAO.

In addition, Mazda Capital Services (MCS)1 has informed MNAO that it will assist current customers in the areas impacted by Hurricane Sandy by automatically waiving late fees on MCS auto loans and leases. This will give MCS customers until the end of business on Monday, Nov. 5 to make a payment to bring their accounts current and avoid fees. MCS customers who believe they are in an area that has been impacted by Hurricane Sandy and who are having trouble making a car payment, want to confirm eligibility for the late fee waiver, or have any questions, can call Mazda Capital Services at 1-866-984-7718 (loan customers) or 1-866-984-7716 (lease customers).

For everyone in the high impact areas who have an insurance claim of damage or loss to their current vehicle, MNAO is offering $500 cash towards the purchase of a new Mazda. In addition, qualified customers have the option to defer their first payment for 90 days from the contract date on the purchase of any new Mazda financed under special financing offered by participating lenders.
